guided introspection brought us this far, but now what?

The majority of modern counseling involves guided introspection. Done well the results illuminate the causes of distress or dysfunction. We recognize what screwed us up. But that is not enough; guided introspection brought us this far, but now what? The weakness of modern counseling is absence of a clear goal, no objective reality for human stability and health. If it feels good, do it. If not, try something else. Be on the receiving end of such advice, cold comfort indeed to the suffering. But the real Achilles heal to modern counseling is the lack of authority to correct deviation and defiance of health. What do I mean? When Jesus was done with the Gadarene demoniac, that man was, “seated, and clothed, and in his right mind,” a perfect lay description of health, something every tormented person could wish to attain. Do you think there are no demons in the world? If so, you are blind.
